Sea Rim State Park
Sea Rim's D. Roy Harrington Beach Unit features over 3 miles of Gulf-coast beach for wade or surf fishing; red drum and speckled trout are the most popular game fish caught. Sea Rim's 4,141.1 acres of marsh lakes, ponds, and sloughs can be fished via boat and are prime feeding grounds for red drum, speckled trout, flounder, tarpon, and alligator gar; a boat ramp at the Marshlands Unit provides access to Fence and Salt Lakes.

Canoes are available for rent at the Park. RV campsites; tent campsites; and primitive campsites available. Park Entry Fees charged; this applies to all persons including those launching from the Marshlands Unit boat ramp. Park Entry Fees waived for holders of State Park Annual Pass or Parklands Passport.

Sea Rim State Park is located on State Highway 87, 22 miles south of Port Arthur or 10 miles west of the town of Sabine Pass. Call the Park Office at 409/971-2559 for more information.


Sabine Pass Battleground State Park and Historic Site
Located on the Sabine Ship Channel, Sabine Pass Battleground State Park and Historic Site is a popular site with anglers. ADA approved handrails and sidewalks line rim the 1/4-mile waterfront, providing plenty of spots for fishing or "floating dock," provides access to Sabine Lake to the north and the Gulf of Mexico or the Port Arthur Jetties to the south. RV and primitive campsites available; campsites are on a first-come first-serve basis; no reservations accepted. Park entry fees charged; this applies to all persons including those launching from the boat ramp. Park entry fees waived for holders of State Park Annual Pass or Parklands Passport.

Sabine Pass Battleground is located along FM 3322 via State Hwy 87 S, 1.5 miles from the town center of Sabine Pass or 14 miles south of Port Arthur. Call the Park Office at 409/971-2559 for more information.

Blue Elbow Swamp
As you enter Texas from Louisiana you cross over the Sabine River and the Blue Elbow Swamp -- this area is protected as the Tony Houseman/Blue Elbow Swamp State Park The 3,300 acre wildlife management area, is mostly accessible only by water. Old logging canals feed off the of the Sabine River and several short bayous cut through the WMA to give great fishing spots. The WMA has three designated camp sites (water access only). You will have to call for details.

Indian Creek Lodge
The south end of Toledo Bend Reservoir offers some of the best fishing on the whole lake. Indian Creek Lodge is positioned at an especially good location - at Indian Creek and very near the dam and deepest part of the lake. Nearby Texas Island is also well known for spectacular fishing. Stay at Indian Creek Lodge and fish with either a Texas or Louisiana fishing license - so long as you are fishing from a boat on the lake (not from shore) either license is valid.

Siecke State Forest
Fishing available in Trout Creek and in pond near district headquarters. Swimming plus covered picnic shelters along creek. Located near Texas-Louisiana border and Sabine River. This 1,722-acre forest was named for E O Siecke, a Texas State Forester from 1918-1942.   409 423-2890  General Directions: 25 miles south of Jasper on US 96. Main tract is five miles SE of Kirbyville.

Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge
Champion Lake is not just your ordinary fishing lake. It consists of 800 plus acres of flooded cypress trees. You will have the opportunity to catch several varieties of fish, such as bass, crappie or catfish. The wildlife is always abundant. Keep your eye out for alligators, opossum, beavers, otters, not to mention a few snakes.

As a fisherman, or a boater you will be able to enjoy our brand new boat ramp. If you do not have access to a boat, you can fish along a 2,000 foot levee or enjoy our new fishing pier with handicap accessibility.

Champion Lake is also the only FREE public fishing lake in Liberty County. (From I-10, exit FM 565, Old River/Winfree. Go north 3 miles to FM 1409. Turn right on FM 1409 for another 3 miles to CR 417. Turn right on CR 417 for 1.8 miles.)

Burkeville -- Located on Toledo Bend Reservoir. The park has group facilities, playground equipment, boat ramp, picnic tables, a wheelchair-accessible fishing pier, and restrooms.
